volumn control

how can i reistall volumn control, cannot get it in the task bar, went to control panel sounds and placed an x in box to put it in task bar but get an error message instead telling me that it is not install go to control panel add remove programs and insta
ll it. but i looked high and low in add remove prgs and could not find anything that i could install?
