Running WIN98 C: and WINXP E: on drive 1 and wish to convert to WinXP
only. Will this work?

Copy WIN XP partition to blank drive D: (second drive).
Delete C: (format)
Copy D: partition to C: .
Delete E: Partition (format).
I am using Partition Magic 8.

Thanks, Hugh

Hugh,

I think this will NOT work.

Suggest you leave WinXP on E.
Delete the reference to Win98 in boot.ini.
Delete whatever you want on C:, other than boot.ini and perhaps other system
files in the head directory.
Certainly, you can delete the Windows directory on C:.
If you like, use PM8 to contract C and expand E.

Have fun!!

No, your best bet is to delete the Win 98 files from the C drive and leave
XP where it is. If you move XP to C, everything in the resistry will point
to the old locations.

Thank you for the info. A good FAQ Michael. I will have to proceed with
care I see.
Will drive mapper on Partition magic not restore the registry file
settings to point to the proper place if XP is moved to C: ?
