Norton Interenet Security hangs up after upgrading to XP

Tearing hair out. Life being sucked away. Spent 3 hours at Windows help site and Norton help site. My Noron Internet explorer hangs up after I upgraded from 98 to XP. Help fix, please!

Did you mean Norton Internet Security instead ? & which
version did you have installed ? Several Norton products for
Windows 9X are not compatible with XP. If you ran the
Upgrade Advisor it would have warned you about them &
suggested an uninstall before upgrading. At this point, your
only option is to uninstall NIS and then get the removal tool
from Symantec's website RNis. (Which removes Registry
Keys and cleans up left-over components) If your version is
recent you may be able to re-install, but be aware that even
after a re-install you may experience problems. Symantec's
products are good, but there is a long track record of issues
with upgrades and installation problems.
