Hi. My friend's machine has this DW.EXE problem that comes on every
time he boots up and he seems to get no where or removing it either
from not working or his lack of savy in the pc dept. I was wondering
is there an east fix to this or would a complete reinstall or restore
solve the problem. Nick

Just what dw.exe problem do you have?

The are several mentions of dw.exe on Google, Microsoft has
the Dr. Watson program and some other companies have
programs with the same name.

If this is your problem, uninstall the other program and
reinstall it to a different folder (new folder) so that you
don't have shortcuts pointing to two programs.

If that is not your problem, you must be more specific.

Hi Nick,

Haven't seen this one in a while. The biggest possibility is that it is part
of Downloadware, which has also been know to cause this error message.
Running Ad-aware may help if it is not listed in add/remove in the Control
Panel. This page also offers some assistance:

DW.exe is also the name of an MS utility included with IE6, or as a separate
download for IE5.5. It is used for error reporting. See this article about
what it is and how to disable the error reporting.

Description and Availability: Internet Explorer Error Reporting [Q276550]

It is also included with OfficeXP.

On another note, it could also be symptomatic of a viral infection. This
link explains why, though it is only a remote possiblity:
