Password protected folders

I would like to be able to protect private folders/files
with a password. Particularly data files stored on a
CD. Does Microsoft Windows XP accommodate this function?

Windows XP does it differently.

You need to be using NTFS file system:

Password your profile then:
Windows XP Home:
