SCHEDULED TASKS

When I am asked for a password to allow me to schedule a
task, should I have the password already? It is a
personal computer with just me using it.

Yes. To run scheduled backups using Backup in WinXP, you need to have
an established password on the system.
Once you do, you will be able to run scheduled backups. If using a
password is a pain everytime you boot your machine, there are a few
ways to set the system to avoid asking you for it, and yet still have
a password.
