I have a compaq desktop running win XP. In
C:/system.sav/util there is a cfg file called CIA.cfg ...
does anyone know what purpose this serves. I hate to
sound like a conspiracy nut, but if you open it with
notepad, it looks a little suspicious.

Does it look suspicious as in funny looking little characters?

Can you humor us and pretend we can't actually see your screen from here and
tell us what is so suspicious about it? Maybe even post a sample? You'll be
surprised at just how much easier diagnosing the problem will be for us if
we can actually see what the problem is.
