Hi a friend of mine asked me how to format his Win XP machine, to load Win 2k. I gave him a xp boot disk, but he can't access his hard drive. How can he remove NTFS? I'm assuming that's the problem, so he can do a clean install?

I don't really understand your post. How can your friend install any
operating system if the hard drive isn't accessible? Generically, boot
with a Windows 98 boot disk and from the A: drive run fdisk. Delete all
partitions. Create a new FAT32 partition (it won't matter, Win2k will
change it). Then set the computer to boot from the cd-rom drive and
boot with the Win2k disk to run setup. During the setup process, Win2k
will give the opportunity to format the partition NTFS.
