i can't log on to administrator without going into safe
mode, and i've tried using the ctrl-alt-del "trick" at the
welcome screen, and it still won't let me on! Is this
feature only in XP Pro, or is there something wrong?

Greetings --
That's the way it's supposed to be, on WinXP Home. Only WinXP Pro
allows access to the Administrator account via the 2*(Ctrl+Alt+Del)
method.

Thanks Bruce. I've been trying to find out what's wrong with my XP Home
machine as I couldn't logon as Administrator and I know for sure the
Administrator account is in there.
Again, thank you.

As soon as it boots up press the F8 key to access the Safe Mode screen
and select Safe Mode if it is there.
If the Administrator account is accessible without a password,
congratulations, you have discovered a security flaw and can now fix
it with a good password.

It would be more of a security flaw if there were a default password
which no one would change. The security flaw is the person who
refuses to protect his own computer and blames it on the operating
system publisher.

Greetings --
The only security "flaw" is that of the computer's owner for not
learning how to use the operating system.
