Error tring to create certificate

Hi,
I am tring to create a new certificate for efs on my computer. I have
MMC loaded with the certificates snap-in, I am in folder
personal/certificates. When I right click the window to get a menu and
request a certificate I get this error message. "The wizard cannot be
started because it faild to contact the active directory". I have spent all
night serching the web to find the solution. I really need help with this
one.

Hi!

I think you need a copy of Windows Server and to setup a Root CA to generate
certificates. Otherwise, it would just attempt to send requests to the
Active Directory system for certificate generation.

What I am trying to do is create a certificate for the recovery agent. I
was able to do this on my other computer without a problem. I would use the
other computer to do this for me but it is in miami and I am in tampa. I
really dont understand why its trying to contact active directory if this
computer isn't even on a network
