Rick

Ever since I installed XP pro on my computer, I cannot
access my win98 files on my peer to peer network.
I see the other computer's icon in the Workgroup, but
when I click on it I get....
\\OtherComputer not accessable. You might not have
permission access to this resource. Contact the
administrator of this serve to find out if you have
access permissions.
The network path was not found.
On the other computer, this machine will not even show up
in the Workgroup

Are the workgroups the same on both machines?
--> properties on the Network ICON for 98, Control Panel-->Network for
XP
Are they both running the same protocol?
If both are TCPIP, do they both have an IP address??
--> type "IPCONFIG" at the CMD prompt on the XP machine. I believe it
is "WINIPCFG" on the 98 box.
If the XP box is REALLY finding the Win98 machine in its browse list, then I
would guess that you have differnet workgroups.
If you run the "Home Network Wizard" on the XP machine, it will offer to
make a floppy with the right information to run on your 98 box... to get
them in sync.
This can be a real pain to debug. email me directly if you still have
problems.
I always run IPX on the older machines in the house and put IPX on the XP
machine so that they always have a common protocol even when the DHCP server
fails etc. Older network games (like CC, Warcraft, Quake, etc) seem to find
each other easier with IPX as the primary protocol.
