local user profiles are stored in a folder called username
- if the folder is taken username.machinename is used, if
this is also taken username.machine.XXX is used, where XXX
is between 000 and 999 - system scans up decimally for the
first available number. if all are taken a temporary
profile folder is created in the form of temp then
temp.machine and then temp.machine.XXX - same as before -
if 2004 folders covering all combinations are present and
the profileimagepath text string value at
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windowsnt\cu rrentversion\profilelis=
t\%usersid%\
does not match any a profile folder cannot be created and
the user is denied login.

when the user logged on, the server set profile folder
maynot of been found, thus it created a new one. do you
normally operate roaming profiles with default 10 cached
logon creditentals?
