View Full Version : **** please help****log on problems in xp welcome screen

can anyone tell me why all of a sudden other users who
are on the limited accounts, cannot log on????? only
administrators can log on at the welcome screen, if i
change all the limited to administrators, they log on and
work fine, but i do not want them on as admins but only
as limited,
please help if you can

Have they been added to either the 'Users' Group or been given the right to
'Log on locally'?

thanks for the reply but not sure where to look, and i
can't remember any changes to that, have been downloading
a lot of windows updates though ??????

Start->Run
In the space provided type mmc.
Click File->Add/Remove Snap In
Click Add
Add Group Policy (for the Local Computer)
Click Local Computer Policy->Computer Configuration->Windows
Settings->Security Settings->Local Policies-> User Rights Assignments
The rights are within here

For everyone who is having trouble logging as USER, First login as
administrator connect to the internet and go to panda antivirus website
and use their online virus scan to do a virus scan after scan is complete
open up windows explorer right click on your c:\ drive chose properties
then security make sure Administrators, System and users are listed their
if not ad it, then do the same step above for Document and Settings,
Programs Files and Windows directory, then reboot and try logging in
under the user account.
