View Full Version : Refresh network connections on Resume from Standby?

Hi folks-

I'm having a network problem with my IBM T30 laptop using XP pro SP1.
This same computer, running Win2000, did not exhibit this problem.

Two symptoms, which I think are from the same cause:

1. At home, connected to broadband via cat5 cable to my router, if I go
to standby, and while in standby move to a different physical cable
connected to the same router, when I resume, the computer won't
automatically refresh the connection. I find I need to unplug/re-plug
the ethernet cable after I've awakened the computer.

2. At work, connecting via wireless, using a Cisco wireless card and
LEAP authentication, when I do a standby / resume cycle the
authentication doesn't usually happen again automatically when I wake
the computer up. I need to either reboot or do other drastic things to
restore the connection.

This is a new issue, starting after the installation of XP. I'm
guessing there is a setting somewhere that needs to be tweaked to
basically restart any network connections from scratch upon resume, but
I haven't found it. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Marc
