disabling pop up ads

This has nothing to do with Windows.

You need to get a pop-up stopper, Panicware make a good,
effective one, and they provide a free version which is
perfectly good. If, however, you still get pop-ups, you
may have ad/spy-ware on you system, in which case you
need to download some anti-ad/spyware software.
www.grisoft.com's Ad-Aware is one of the leading free
anti-ad/spyware scanners and destroyers. SpyKiller
(company unknown) is also a good free one.
