Problems caused by the worm...any advice?

I obviously have been affected by the worm. On not one, but two systems! The second has Norton, but evidently it didn't prevent an infection, and when I scan, it doesn't even detect any virus. I can no longer access the internet, and when going to netwo
rk connections I see nothing listed. At first there was my old AOL dial up listed, and my new dsl listed, but when I tried to open the properties in order to enable te firewall, nothing happened...I can't use any of the functions from my right-click menu.
It doesn't matter now....there isn't anything listed. So I can't enable a firewall to go online. Also I went run/systemms? -s (systemmssomething)/remote prodedure call and tried to right-click for properties...nothing. I downloaded the fixblast tool, he
re at work, and plan to save it to a floppy, take it home and see what happens. But will I be able to save the patch to disk and launch that way? I've never dealt with this before ...I just figured my laptop had Norton installed....every pc I've ever wor
ked on already had it soooo.....now I've learned my lesson. Is there usually any damage left after removing the worm, and installing a patch?
