My harddrive failed and I am attempting to install XP on
a different drive. I have replaced the failed drive,
inserted the CD and turned on the PC. The PC boots from
the CD, installs the basic files, and then says it
is "Starting windows". It attempts to start, the hard
drive does something, but it hangs at this point. I have
disconnected all other drives and rebooted many times,
all with the same result. Any answers?

How long have you waited after it "hangs"? Sometimes you need to give it 15
minutes (or more!) at that point. Does your hard drive light indicate any
hard drive activity?

>I have waited for 10 or 15 minutes. The drive does
something for 30 seconds or so and then stops, never to
do another thing. Nothing has changed, hardware wise,
except for a different C: drive.
