what is the difference between a power user and a user,
how can i change a user to a power user. i have looked
through the windows help topics, but none have helped
enough.

also, an administration question. first off, my computers
name is Two. So in the security tab, the groups are
Two\Adminstrators, Two\Users, Two\Power Users...etc.

ive been having some problems with adminstrative security
over limited access user accounts on my windows xp
professional comp. When i go to add a user to the
security tab to alter its settings, i can look in the
user, adminstrator, or power user group to add them. it
doesnt seem like it makes any difference because users
from any limited account can go in and change permissions
by taking ownership of the files or folders. ive set the
advanced options to not allow other users to read/change
permissions, and also disallowed them to take ownership,
but they can still go in and read permissions and take
ownership and alter permissions for any other user...ive
been trying to figure this out for several hours over the
passed 2 weeks...WTF

net localgroup "power users" accountname /add
will add the account named "accountname to the=20
Power Users local group.

You can also do this with the GUI toolset in Pro

I do not follow what you try to say about users=20
being able to take ownership and to read and=20
change permissions. If an account is not in the=20
Administrators group then it can only take ownership=20
of something if it has been granted the Take Ownership=20
permission on that something (such as by being granted=20
full control). Also, if an account does not have granted=20
to it the permission to change permissions for something=20
then it cannot change the permissions. If an account does=20
already own something, then it can do anything to the=20
permission grants even if it has been explicitly denied=20
all permissions on that something.

So, what you describe must be misrepresenting the=20
situation, since as stated it is impossible.
