You have to have a login password to have a password for
your screen saver protection. No other way around it.

For those useful auto-login features from Windows 2000 that have disappeared
under XP, try the command:

control userpasswords2

It doesn't help for machines on a domain, but for standalone XP Professional
machine it will allow you to set an auto-logon account. You can still set
the password to require a password.
