I'm trying to set up my dad's PC to share its
internet connection. He had already installed
an ADSL modem which connects to the internet
and a wireless network adapter for connection
to a home network. both of these connect via USB.
The problem is that whenever I enable the wi-fi
device, it causes the modem connection to stop
working. even after putting the settings back to
normal i can't get connected to the internet. it
gets as far as "verifying user name" etc but then
gives an error message [tcp/ip error 31 a device
attached to the system is not functioning]. I think
the problem is something to do with PPP. The only
way i can get the internet connection to connect
successfully is to do a system restore.
what can I do?
