Dear All

Boot activity chart of Bootvis.exe is divided into
following segment:

Shell
Logon + Service
Video
Registry + Page file.
Perfecting
Driver
Disk

When we put mouse on any of the above segment it shows
initialization time.

What initialization time for Disk, Is it a total time
required to load disk driver and supported driver +
services?

What initialization time for Driver, Is it a total time
required to load and initialize drivers?

What initialization time for Perfecting?

What initialization time for Shell?

XP itself does everything that BootVis did by itself every 3 days. The =
prefetch file is rebuilt every 3 days. BootVis is a tool for =
developers, not home users.

thnxs Mr. Tee, I didn't know that. Last time I used it on an xp pro machine it cut around 15 seconds off the boot time, so I'm pretty sure that it does a little more than what xp does on its own. Hmmmmmm

It may cut a little more off the boot time - but at the expense of
slowing down the loading of programs in general. The prefetch
optimisation makes a general optimisation, of which boot forms only a
part (as not being something you are doing hourly)
