I need some assistance installing XP on a blank formatted HD. I've been able to get the CDROM activated but XP won't install from a DOS mode. Any suggestions?

XP and DOS are now oil and water. If your CD-ROM is active make sure to
have it set as the first choice in your bootup sequence. This is done by
getting into your BIOS. Once that is done restart the system and BOOT
from the XP CD to install

Set your CD-drive as the first boot device in BIOS then restart your PC. You
should be prompted to hit a key to continue setup...

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD and follow the
on-screen instructions and prompts. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Normally you boot the CD direct after setting the BIOS setup of the
machine to boot CD before HD. In that take setup windows and carry on,
to make a partition on the hard disk as part of the setup.

If you positively cannot boot the CD, use a Win98 or ME startup floppy
and its FDISK (Y to 'Large disk support?') to make a FAT 32 partition,
reboot to format it, then
run
SMARTDRV
go to the XP CD
give
CD i386
(letter I number 386)
WINNT
