Hi, I'm not sure what has happened, but after installing
a new keyboard & driver, all the text in WinXP has turned
into wierd characters and everything is totally
unreadable now. Even all the menus are using these
strange characters that look like symbols and boxes. What
can I do to get back to regular english? Any help would
be appreciated. All I am able to do right now is get
online and type this message. Thanks.

did you play with your regional settings? did you add a lanugage like
Japanese? if so, then that's what happens.

go to your Language and Regional Options in Control Panel, and revert back
to English.

hope that helps!

Maybe you somehow deleted all the fonts except for wingdings.

If you have another computer, maybe try doing it on both computers at the same
time, so you can read the text off the other computer?

I've read through this thread, and I don't see that you tried going into
Safe Mode. Try that and see if you can read text. If yes, then do a
System Restore to before you did whatever you did that messed things
up. Post back if you need more help.

Thanks for your help everyone, I was able to fix this problem by booting
to the xp cd and using the recovery console to restore to an earlier
point. Whew! :-)
