View Full Version : Pop-ups, VERY slow PC and emails that type themself

Over the last few weeks some really odd things have been happening with my
PC as follows:-

1. It is VERY slow - I have defragged and used all the other utilities
you are advised to use
2. When I create a new message in Outlook Express the keyboard types
words itself - this one is really odd as it is not "catching up" with my
typing.
3. I can't get rid of pop-ups! There is a pop-up about destroyads.com it
comes up periodically whether or not I am online. How do I get rid of it?
4. Sometimes I am receiving emails that are totally blank from people I
know

This is really frustrating. I have virus checked my hole system and there
doesn't appear to be a virus.

any help would be a appreciated!

Kind regards
Lesley

Lesley;
1-3 You probably have spyware or a virus, try these
Run an updated virus scan.
Run Disk Cleanup checking all boxes except "Compress old files"
Run Defrag.
If you have file sharing software such as Kazaa, disable it.
Check this link:
http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.php
Run Ad-Aware (free version) or Spybot to check for spyware:
http://www.lavasoft.de/ (Update if you already have it)
Or
http://spybot.eon.net.au/ (Update if you already have it)

2. Turn off Speech Recognition:

4. Someone else may have a virus, maybe not the address it says it
came from, address may be spoofed.

Hi

This can have been caused by the Q811493 update as well...

Open Control Panel and go to "Add or Remote Programs". Uninstall Q811493 if it
is installed and see if it helps.

If you get a warning that other installs may stop working if you remove it,
just ignore it.

Thank you for your suggestions. I am printing out your suggestions and
going to try them now. I've already nuked the pop-ups but my system is
still very slow. The oddest thing those is how my keyboard just type
the .... into my emails.

I'll let you know what happens after I've tried your suggestions.

Thanks
Lesley
