When I try to unplug my usb removable disk my computer
tells me it can't be stopped now,try later. I waited but
still get the same message. Their are no programs running.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Do you have an icon on the right hand side of your task bar (it might be
hidden) called "safely remove hardware"? It looks a bit like like a grey
lump with a green arrow over it.
Before unplugging USB drive:
a) double click this icon
b) select the USB drive
c) click the stop button
d) wait for a message - I think it may tell you that you can can now remove
that hardware (or something like that)

Lyn,
I was having the same problem. But guess what? There was a program running
in my system tray that was located on the USB drive. As soon as I shut it
down, voila, I was able to safely remove the device.
