I have been running XP Home for about 2 years, but
suddenly after the most recent round of updates all
system tray icons (like my Network Ice Firewall)
disappeared, with the exception of Norton AV. It appears
that for instance the firewall starts up automatically
and is running, but it is comforting to be able to see at
a glance what the status is.
I got the system tray working with a reinstall, but then
when all the many updates that demand installing were
implemented the system tray had quit again, this time
fixed with going back to a restore point. However I am
now running without all the security, etc. updates from
the past two years.
Has anybody else encountered this problem and found a
solution ?
