View Full Version : Help!! Folders disappeared

I have about 10 different folders of JPG files inside another folder,
which is inside of "My Pictures".

I wanted to change the order in which the folders displayed
themselves. So I click into the main folder in which they are held,
then I dragged a folder near the end of the line, moving it to the
beginning of the line, which placed it over the folder at the
beginn9ing of the line. I then released the dragged folder, & it
diasappered. Gone. I tried it a second time with a different folder
& that folder to is gone. The folders in which I placed the dragged
folders over are fine, & have all of their original JPG files in them.

These folders that disappeared are nowhere to be found on my system.
Not even in the recycle bin. I've turned the computer off then on
again & still not there.

Can someone tell me what happened & how to recover theses missing 2
folders?

I spent a lot of time downloading those JPG files at dial-up speeds
off of usenet. Please reply here in this newsgroup (email address
invalid). Thanks.

Never mind. I found the missing folders inside of the other folders I
had dragged them onto. (duh). I just didn't see them among the many
JPGs there (even though listed first).

I thought it would change their display order but of course it inserts
the folder inside the dragged-to folder.

If someone can tell me how to change the order in which the several
folders display I'd appreciate it (shown in a linear fashion, from
left to right)..

I bet that's where you found the missing folders. If you drop anything on
another folder it puts it inside the folder. To change the order you have to
drop it "between" other items in an areag of space. When you are in a valid
place you should see a I shape cursor appear. The other way is to go view ->
arrange icons by etc

Never mind again. I figured out how to do it. I drag the folder i
want moved into position, being careful not to place it over another
folder (goes inside that folder), but rather direcrtly between two
folders, it will place it there.
