Hi, I'm new to this newsgroup. I'm having trouble with
booting my system PIV 2.4Ghz, system working fine for past
4 mo, today after very very very slow performance, I
restarted computer, it was taking too long to shut down so
I manually rebooted. Now when I start my computer, after
giving me the initial win xp logo on the black and white
background, it reboots; same with safe mofe, safe with
command prompt only, or any other mode, regardless of if i
use last good configuration, debugging, boot log, etc.
I can get to repair mode via my cd, but don't know what to
do next. Anyone have any ideas? Please feel free to
email me at . Thanks

Boot from the XP cd, and when prompted hit enter to begin setup. Press F8 to
accept the license agreement. It will then search and find your existing XP
install. Select it, and choose R for repair. Back up any important data
files in case something goes wrong.

In the in-place upgrade does not resolve the issue, you can try the
following:

314466 Black Startup Screen Is Briefly Displayed, Computer Restarts
Repeatedly
