I know of a full version of Office 2000 Professional OEM
software that is no longer used by the person/company
that had origally purchased it when they purchased a new
computer system a few years back. Am I able to acquire
this software and run in on my Windows XP machine?? I
would be able to obtain everything ie. original disks,
instruction book, etc., but do not know if this is legal
and if I would run into problems when I try to register
the software on my machine. Is there anyway to transfer
the software?

Hi, OEM copies are bound to the original computer they are sold with. They
are *not* be transferred/moved to a different PC.

Greetings --

Your acquisition of the OEM license is questionable, but the
current owner most definitely cannot legitimately sell it or give it
away, unless the transaction also included the computer with which the
OEM Office license was purchased. An OEM license is _permanently_
bound to the first PC on which it was installed, and is *not*
transferable to any other PC, under any circumstances. The only
legitimate way to transfer the ownership of an OEM license is to
transfer ownership of the entire PC on which it's installed.
