i have installed WindowsXP on my PC before a few days
and all devices has detedted successfuly , but when i
trying connect to internet its appears an error message :
"COULD NOT DETECT MODEM. IT MAY BE IN USE, TURNED OFF, OR
NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY."
I have done the following:
1. I replaced the modem to another PCI slot.
2. I delete the currently driver then I reinstall it.
3. I make a new connection .

Modems, particularly Winmodems can be very troublesome.
Windows often does not detect them properly, and they are very often
proprietary, meaning that although they may have some industry standard
chipset at their heart, you need specific drivers to run them. The only way
I managed to solve this for someone before was to remove the modem card
carefully, and then note down EVERY piece of text on the larger on-board
chips, and any relevant looking text on the board itself - hopefully a
manufacturer.
Then it's a search of the web I'm afraid.

Just uninstall the modem from Windows, shut down the machine and
physically remove it. Then replace it with a new modem which you can
get for around $25usd. They do die sometimes.
