Hello to all. I recently gave my old PC's to my 2 girls for their use. I
wanted to change the registered user names to theirs and also delete the
last name from this for cookie privacy.
I searched MS's knowledge base and couldn't come up with anything and the
tip form annoyances.org (drill down the registry to | Microsoft | Windows |
Current Version| ) and there's no matching key for "registered owner".
Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance to all who reply.
Best regards,
Morey G.

Greetings --

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use
Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.
