I have been trying to set up an account with limited
access to particular folders, but i've made a couple of
mistakes and now i want to restore all the default
security options that came with XP. Is there a file that
stores these default settings? I don't know how to
configure them manually to what they originally were.

In XP Pro, you have a file in the Windows\Security\Templates folder called
Setup Security, you can either right click on it and install it, or use the
Local Security Policy MMC in the Control Panal to reset it.
Just go to Control Panal\Performance and Maintenance\Administrative
Tools\Local Security Policy and right click on Security Settings and click
Import Policy and then click Setup security.
