I'm running WinXP Pro w/latest/greatest patches/fixes, and I
"discovered" the file "tvmd.exe" running. Can't find anything about
it anywhere. Anyone know what this might be? Malware? Spyware? Or
perhaps something more sinister?

I discovered TVMD.exe as well - after I installed Norton Internet
Security, which tracks every program that tries to access the
Internet. TVMD was repeatedly trying to access (and send
information?) the Internet during each day. I also found
ClockSync.exe trying to do the same.

In doing some research, I found that TVMD.exe and ClockSync.exe
programs had a modified date and time that matched the date and time
of my install of Lavasoft's AdAware 6. I am wondering if this
"award-winning" spyware detection software actually winds up
installing its own spyware...

I renamed TVMD.exe TVMD.exe.bak, and have had no problems since.

Just out of curiousity, had you recently installed AdAware? If so, do
the file dates of the AdAware install match the file date of TVMD.exe?

Well I've got AdAware 6 installed on the computer I'm using to reply from
right now and it has neither of those programs installed that you mentioned
which suggests either you got your copy from a less than trustworthy source,
or that you need to look elsewhere for the culprit for installing those
files.

Robert:

Do you have the paid or free version of AdAware? Mine is the free
one, maybe the free one only comes with the offending programs.
