View Full Version : System Disk Issue

I get a system disk message after the Verifying Pool Data
and the boot up halts, stating the system disk has failed,
I have been told this can be the Motherboard, IDE cable,
bad connections or thr HD is failing? If these were true
what's next aside from checking cables or switching hard
drives?

TIA

Before doing anything like swapping out the HDD, go to the maker's web
site and download their diagnostic package. Use it to thoroughly
check the drive for errors. Of course while you can - BACKUP -
everything.

I've found the drive makers diagnostic software to be much better at
finding drive errors than Norton, Chkdsk, Scandisk, etc. If the
diagnostics indicate the drive is going south, it's time to replace
it. If under warranty, the diagnostics will even print out an RMA
request for you. Good luck, and don't forget to backup everything
ASAP.
