View Full Version : Prevent Access to Drive But Retain Access to Explorer

I would like to prevent user access to C: using either My
Computer and Windows Explorer. After enabling the policy
(User Configuration\Administrative Templastes\Windows
Explorer) I get a Restrictions notice when trying to open
Explorer from the right-click on the Start menu. Is there
a setting or something I can use to access other drives in
Windows Explorer?

Hi Willy,
1. Download the Tweak UI PowerToy from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
2. Open Tweak UI and click on My Computer
3. Double-click on My Computer (On list inside Tweak UI) and then click on
drives
4. Remove the check next to the C drive
5. Click Apply
This tweak can also be applied in the registry, see this webpage:
