Do we really need the old installer stuff? Is anything used
from these after install?

Everythings running fine; I can restore to how it is now if
I need to -- so when can one truly ditch all this junk on
the disk?

TIA,
Jim

If you speak of the compressed files within the Windows=20
directory that start with $Nt for names, these are only needed=20
if you will want to uninstall the service. If you know you will=20
not wish to do so then it is safe to delete them.

Greetings --

If you're confident that you won't need to uninstall either the
service pack or any of the subsequent hotfixes, you can safely delete
those folders. You can then open the Control Panel's Add/Remove
Programs applet and select each of the pertinent removal choices, in
turn. You should get an error message stating that the removal files
are missing, and asking if you'd like to delete the menu option.

I always delete those files when i'm confident that the update is OK
and i don't want to uninstall the update. Never did me any harm and it
saves lots of disk space.

And for emergencies there's always a recent image <g>
