Hey,

Not sure if this is where I should post this, but here
goes. A friend just brought his computer in for a check up
and I ran into a pretty major problem. I ran windows
update a noticed quite a few critcal updates needed to be
applied so I ran, first one appears to be SP1. I let it
run the express setup and it looks like it failed on file
lsass.exe, I canceled this update figuring I would just
download the network one and I'd be on my way but no luck.
The computer will no longer boot, I cannot get into safe
mode or anything, just a blank screen.

Any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually that didn't appear to work. I also tried follow
steps from the link to charlie white with out any luck as
well.

I took a look for lsass.exe in the %windir%\system32 and
it wasn't there. I think the service pack1 rollback failed
and some files weren't restored any other suggestions. At
the moment I will try copying the lsass from another
machine. The rollback did state this file was not found in
the SP's folder.

Thanks, Joe
