update wizard

My hardware update wizard does not recognize any of my installed hardware.My plug and play is turned to automatic and I'm wondering if it could be a missing .dll file. When I use the wizard to update my drivers or roll back a driver it doesn't see any of m
y installed working devices.Can anyone help?
