View Full Version : WindowsXP Firewall and Norton Internet Security

I resently purchased an eMachines computer with
WindowsXP. I installed my Norton Internet Security 2002
program which includes anti-virus and firewall. When I do
my live updates, after I re-boot, my computer starts up,
then goes black, then re-boots again and tells me that
Microsoft has detected a serious problem. I sent the
error message to Microsoft and they came back with the
answer that the erro was caused by a Device Drive. They
suggested it might be because I installed software for a
firewall and anti-virus (which I had) and to notify the
manufacturer of the software (Symantec). I emailed
Symantec and they told me that the problem probably had
to do with my WindowsXP firewall vs. the Norton firewall.
They gave me a link to a Microsoft page telling me how to
dis-able the WindowsXP firewall, but when I tried to
follow the instructions from that page, I could not find
where to dis-able it. Can someone email me with step-by-
step instructions to do this task? I am not that computer
literate when it comes to the programs, so I really need
help or suggestions. Thanks. Kay.
