I had installed XP Pro upgrade onto my laptop, but
relaized I really needed it on my desktop. Right now it
is currently on both but I need to remove it from my
laptop so I can activate it on my desktop. My laptop
previously had windows 2000 pro and for some reason I can
not find an uninstall windows xp option in add/remove
programs. What do I need to do to uninstall xp from my
laptop and have it retirn to the previous O/S?
Thanks

Upgrading to Windows XP Pro is a one-way ticket.
You'll need to reformat the drive and reinstall Windows 2000
from scratch. The easier and sensible alternative is to purchase an
additional license for your laptop and activate it.

Greetings --
There is no "rollback" to Win2K.
If you want to replace WinXP with an earlier OS, you're certainly
entitled to do so, as long as you've purchased a legitimate copy of
that earlier OS. (Although I can't imagine why you'd want to.)
To replace WinXP with an earlier OS, you'll have to boot from the
appropriate boot disk, format the hard drive, and install. There is
no supported downgrade path or technique.
Simply boot from the Win2K installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and/or format the system partition as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
