View Full Version : XP attachments not available

I have a network with several different OS and the XP systems will not allow
certain *.exe email attachments to be received. Most users have either
Office 2000 or Office XP. Windows XP is the only OS that this happens on,
regardless of the Office suite, so I am almost certain it is not the
Exchange server settings. I reduced all of the security settings to low to
test if that was the problem. It made no difference and I changed it back.
I checked to see if the firewall had been enabled and I don't see anywhere
in the network settings that an internal firewall is being used.
Any ideas?

Jack;
Outlook Express:
Open Outlook Express.
Click Tools, click Options, click Security tab.
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."
This change that Microsoft implemented is to help prevent viruses and
other bad code being received with attachments.
It is very important to keep your antivirus updated and run it at
least weekly.
