Thanks for your reply.

It appears that ntbackup and XP backup are essentially
the same. I have no problem performing a "normal" backup,
it the "differential" backup that is causing me
difficulty.

Here are a few facts about my situation:
1. 98% of the data does not change from one backup to the
next.
2. The files I want to backup are scattered about the
drive and not all in one easy to select folder.
3. I don't have the option of placing all the files I
want to backup in one folder.

I liked the idea of a "differential" backup because (I
thought) it would perform a differemtial backup of the
original "normal" backup without my having to go through
the tedious selection of files and folders that I
performed in the "normal". However, each time I select
the "differential" option it wants me to select the files
all over again. Am I missing something?

Thanks again.

By any chance are you backing up to a Travan Tape?

If so NTbackup has a problem finding the backup set if There are more than
ONE backup set on the tape.

IE tape backup is useless and costly!!!
