File denies me access to remove! Help needed.

Unwanted file and icon has been downloaded. Tried remove
in normal way: found on local disc, right mouse button,
choose "Delete" from menu, click YES on "Do you really
want to delete" message, but then rcv message: "Cannot
delete, access denied. Check disc is not full, or write-
protected, or that file is not in use" - none of which
are true. How can I get rid of this unwanted intruder??
Would much appreciate your help. Running Wndows XP.

Might try right-mousing over the icon and selecting properties. Make sure
that none of the "Attributes" are checked at the bottom of the General
Properties Window. Hope this helps.
