I presently have a PC with Win Me on it as an OS.
I want to install WinXp as a second OS. The version
I have is an upgrade Win XP. I have Partition Magic
7 on my system. I have about 25 gigs to play with.
My question is how to I go about using Partition Magic
to set up a partition to install Win XP? Also how large a
partitiondo I need? Do I have to install Win 98 or
Win Me on the new partition before I install XP?
Finally, are there any problems that I might be on the
look out for while installing the second OS?
Thanks

When I was dual booting with ME & XP on a 30 gig drive I partitioned the =
drive into 4 parts
5g for ME/5g for XP/10for XP rograms and 10 for ME programs.I actually =
used a different program to make the partitions..Bootitng.It created a =
floppy boot disk from which it let me create the partitions without loss =
of any data. After Creating the partitions ME was still bootable and all =
programs workable. Then from within ME I installed XP as a new install =
into the 5g partition.XP created the necesary files for dual booting and =
placed its boot files on the "C" drive which also contained ME.This =
meant that I could not just format the "C" drive in order to delete ME =
or else I would lose the ability to boot into XP without doing a repair =
installation. While running a dual boot I did not run into any problems =
with XP...well not any major ones anyways. Now I run just XP after =
formatting and repartitioning the drive and doing a fresh install of XP =
..
good luck
