I am a novice who recently had Windows XP put on one of
our computers. When I tried to get to that computer (A)
through our home network, it asked me for a password for
computer (A) that I had never experienced when we used 98
or 2000. I then tried to create a password for the
administrator on the usergroup on Computer A. When my son
tried to reboot, it would not recognize the password now
we are permanently locked out. What do we do? Help!!!

Hi

Check this one:

If that doesn't work out, you might try to reset the local Administrator
password with one of the methods mentioned here:

http://securityadmin.info/faq.htm#password

e.g.
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd

If the account you were using was not named Administrator,=20
you can try logging in with Administrator (in safe mode boot=20
if this is Home edition), and then setting the password on=20
your account to something you do know (and set it on the=20
Administrator account while you are at it). The Administrator=20
account is often left by installers with a blank password.=20
If it is not blank, then ask of those that recently installed the=20
XP system for your (sooner or later you will need this).
