Thanks very much. I'm using the Home edition. I followed the link and
instructions you provided. When I logged on in my name and took pocession
nothing changed. The folder was still private. I logged on as Admin and took
pocession. That removed the "private" status. However when I logged back on
in my name a new profile was created (Shania.TOSHIBA). I went back and
claimed ownership to "Shania" in my name, but have not been able to get
logged on using my old settings. How can I get my files and settings back
(i.e. how do I substitude "Shania" for "Shania.TOSHIBA"?) Until I correct
this I am in a jam!

Shania;
Are you saying your settings etc are in "Shania.TOSHIBA"?
If everything you need is there, is there a problem?
You could copy the data in that profile to "Shania" profile:

Following your link ... I have no Advanced tab in User Accounts. (Am using
someone else's computer to write (can't get access to my Outlook Express),
hence change in name/return address). I also checked on this computer (XP
Pro) and there is no Advanced tab on the User Accounts window.

Walt;
Something seems haywire on that page.
Skip steps 4, 5,6,7.
Instead click "Create a new account" and follow the prompts
