I currently have a home built computer running an OEM
version of Windows XP Home Edition. I want to setup a
dualboot for Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP
Professional. My problem is I cannot find the product key
that came with my OEM Home Edition. I have the product
ID , is there a way to retrieve the product key before I
repartition my hard drive and install the two operating
systems.

Robert;
If OEM Windows XP came with the computer, it should be on a sticker
affixed to the computer.
If the sticker is missing and you never used that key to install
Windows XP, the tool will give the key the manufacturer used to image
the computer and that key will not likely work for activation.

That's a license violation right there.

Not if he bought the OEM with hardware.

Not necessarily.
There is not enough information to make that assumption.
You can buy OEM Windows at many locations that sell Windows as long as
you also purchase a piece of hardware (memory, hard drive, motherboard
etc)
In that case, it could be very legal.
