What is Crytographic service in XP?

System will not let me install latest security patch.
Could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf.
Installation wizard says make sure Crytographic service is
turned on. How do I do that?

Crytographic Services (cryptsvc) should be running

if not, start it

Don't forget steps 6-9 catroot2 file.
Do this whether SP1 is the issue or not.

Hi David,

This is with 99.99% certainty a Catroot2 folder issue (the Edb.log file) and
not an issue with the Cryptographic service...
