The Departure of Quinoa S

[Quinoa S]

Quinoa S has become increasingly cranky with posters over the last few
weeks. There are reasons for this, but they're no excuse for bringing an
attitude to these forums.

The Q is becoming exasperated with posters who complain that Microsoft
releases lousy software instead of taking the time to learn how to use their
computers; who want to tweak their systems in ways they do not understand in
order to gain imagined performance increases that exist largely in their
heads; and who ask questions that have been answered a dozen times over in
the last day alone.

Nonetheless, Quinoa S has no business lecturing to posters. Therefore, the Q
is going to take a long vacation...perhaps to return with a better attitude,
or perhaps to morph into yet another personality. TTFN.

Cause it's an excuse. An idiot is an idiot is an idiot. While one can =
defend the idiots by noting that they are trained to idiocy by a out of =
control MS PR dept whose sole goal is to win approval from linux =
fanatics (which they'll never get) they are, nontheless, still idiots.

My XP works perfectly. This is because I have not a single patch on it =
(ok I have Off 2000 SP1 but only because it was the first disk I found - =
I have Off2000, Off2000 dev, Off2000SP1 and Off2000SP2). I have =
unpatched Office 97 and XP also installed.

Last night I went to install VS.Net 2003 but bailed out when it wanted =
to multiple patch my install. NO WAY.

But more to the point the criminal scum (an olde english worde) at MS =
insist in the following crimes

1. Permitting the web interface to continue. This is mixed. It certainly =
allows people to post who otherwise wouldn't be able to. BUT it also =
means that they never see their answers. More work for no point to us.

2. Removing attachments from the web intertface. There is a minor bug in =
attachments in the web interface. MS answer - remove the functionality. =
The linux fanatics won't give them a tick of approval for it so everyone =
is inconvienced for no reason.

3. The web interface is very important to MS as they see that as =
consumer training so that in the future they can extort cash from us on =
a monthly basis (no cash no windows that month). This is also reflected =
in email at MSN and their other criminal enterprises (passport, =
hotmail).=20
PS Windows users subsidises MSN users so they can extort money from us =
in the future.

4. Refusal to fix the important bugs in windows. The ones that were =
introduced in IE4 and are still with us today.

5. Selling an inappropiate product (a server which has been crippled) to =
personal users, coporate users, and as a server. Rather than an OS =
designed for each segment.

6 Selling the same product to everyone on the planet. I don't want to =
see any forgeign language feature on my version of windows or office. =
Both 5 and 6 is about cost control - reducuing their costs by a =
compromised product.

7. Lying to consumers. Home and Pro are not servers (cause they've been =
crippled) but the server features are what sells it. They should have =
included an active directory in both Home and Pro (make it only work on =
a local machine if marketing is important).
XP is designed to work as a pair - Server and Workstation. Without =
server it's just pathetic. It's MS research that showed home users =
wanted multiple users. Why not give them what they wanted.

I wish everyone could share your attitude on this. The web interface and
the MS marketing push on the web site have really taken their toll on
helpfulness.

You can't hardly teach an old 9x user a new NT trick. ;-) However, on
the rare occasions when it works, you find a very grateful and happy XP
user (cum sysadmin).

Goodbye or shall we say "au revoir"? Come back when the web interface is
redone. Won't be too long, I reckon ...
