I want to upgrade from Windows XP Home Edition to XP Pro,
but because of the activation that ties the Home Edition
version to my Computer, how can I put my Home Edition on
another computer? What needs to be done to re-activate it
on another computer.

Rich;
If you upgrade using a Windows XP Pro Upgrade, you can not install
Home on another computer.
It will still be tied to the computer as the upgrade qualifier.
As long as Pro is a full version, simply install Home on the other
computer.
Worst case is a 5 minute toll free call to Microsoft.
The above applies to retail.
If Home is OEM, OEM is normally permanently tied to the first computer
it is installed and may never be transferred regardless of the
condition of the original computer.

Yes, you can put it on another computer IF it is a retail version, not OEM.
OEM versions are licensed only to the computer on which it was first
installed. When you move Home to the other computer it will activate
normally if it has been more than 120 days since you first installed it. If
less you will have to make a phone activation, which is easy, follow prompts
on screen.

Rich;
There is no need or way to cancel Activation.
Install the retail windows XP Home Upgrade on the other computer.
If phone Activation is necessary, you will be given the necessary
prompts.
